06.Franklin Chang Díaz

Franklin Ramón Chang Díaz (born April 5, 1950) [1] is an American mechanical, physical and Costa Rican engineer, former NASA astronaut.

He is founder and current CEO of Ad Astra Rocket Company [2] and member of the board of directors of Cummins. [3] He became a US citizen in 1977. [4] He is of Chinese origin (paternal side) and Costa Rican Spanish (maternal side).

He is a veteran of seven space shuttle missions, which makes him the record holder as of 2018 for most space flights (a record he shares with Jerry L. Ross). He was the third Latin American and the first Hispanic American to go to space.

Chang Díaz is a member of NASA’s Astronaut Hall of Fame.
