10. Marek Dospiva – $1B
Marek Dospiva is a co-founder of Penta Investments, which has investments in healthcare, banking, real estate and aerospace.
Penta has controlling interests in Privatbance, the pharmacy chain of Dr. Max and the sports betting operator Fortuna.Dospiva and the Slovakian Jaroslav Hascak, who studied in Beijing, began to import Chinese textiles into retail chains in Czechoslovakia.
During the privatization of Slovakia in 1996, Penta acquired control of the country’s largest fund, which only pays 20 percent of its actual market value. Dospiva and Hascak are still both partners and the largest shareholders of Penta Investments.
09.Tomáš Chrenek – $1.1B
Tomáš Chrenek is a Czech entrepreneur of Slovak origin. According to Forbes, he is the eighth richest Czech with assets of about $ 1.1B.
After graduating from the University of Economics in Bratislava, he worked at PZO Kerametal. After the revolution he studied at the Mining University and in the so-called coupon privatization he became one of the richest entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic in the 1990s. For example, he is a co-owner of the FINITRADING holding, owning Třinecké železárny and Barrandov Studio film studios, Ukrainian iron ore mines or the AGEL hospital network (75% share).
He also controlled the energy company Moravia Energo. In February 2009, the Energy Regulatory Office eliminated it from electricity trading, as the company stated that it had no money to advance future energy supplies. Shortly thereafter, Moravia Energo was declared bankrupt and the company went bankrupt.
Chrenek also stands for Pura Vida, which in 2010 bought a former government chateau in Prague-Koloděje for 233 million CZK. Since September 2014, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of CEVRO Institut, a private university.
